What is it?Neuromodulators, or neurotoxins aka “Tox” are Botulinum Toxin Type A injectable medications FDA approved for cosmetic and therapeutic treatments. They help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face resulting from dynamic facial expressions. At Aesthetics Confidential we currently use Botox® and Dysport®.

How does it work?Neuromodulators are used for treatment of specific muscles to temporarily block the communication between nerve impulses and muscles to prevent their contraction and movement. This temporary relaxation of the muscles helps to soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and prevents them from becoming deeper, creating a smoother skin texture and more youthful appearance.

Why Botox & Dysport?Botox® and Dysport® are both Botulinum Toxin Type A neuromodulators. Botox® has been on the market for cosmetic use for over 20 years. It is FDA approved for three areas of the upper face. It is best for treatment of mild to moderate fine lines and wrinkles. When optimally treated, results last an average of 3-4 months. Dysport® has been on the market for over 10 years. It is FDA approved for treatment of moderate to severe frown lines (lines between the brows or 11s). It is fast-acting and long-lasting with results seen in 2-3 days and may last up to 5 months.

How do I know which neuromodulator is best for me?When you book a consultation your healthcare provider will review your medical history and perform a comprehensive facial examination. During that time, you and your healthcare provider will discuss which options would best address your areas of concern to achieve the best results.

Who can get neuromodulator treatments?To be a good candidate for neuromodulator treatments, you must meet the criteria below. Must be 18 years of age or older Must NOT currently be pregnant or breastfeeding aka nursing Have moderate skin elasticity Have moderate to severe wrinkles Must be in good health Must NOT have ALS aka Lou Gehrig’s Disease, Myasthenia Gravis, or Lambert-Eaton Syndrome Have realistic expectations of treatment outcomes

Are there any side effects?Treatments with neuromodulators are safe in the small doses used to treat cosmetic and therapeutic conditions. Side effects include a small pin prick sensation at the injection site, pinpoint or very small amount of bleeding, bruising, and a mild headache. These side effects are the most common and are normal. Questions or concerns regarding other side effects should be discussed with your healthcare provider during your consultation.

When can I expect to see results?Treatment with neuromodulators begins to take effect within 2-3 days. Full results are seen in 14 days.

How long will my results last?Results last approximately 3 to 4 months. In addition, dose = duration, indicating appropriate doses or higher doses = longer duration of your results. Conversely, underdosing or lower doses = shorter duration of your results. However, results may vary and be shorter or longer in duration in some patients. These variabilities should be discussed with your healthcare provider during your consultation.

How much will my treatment cost?At Aesthetics Confidential, we stand by our values and strive to provide an exceptional personal experience and results. We offer our Tox treatments at per-area prices to ensure our treatment outcomes are consistent and our practice is honest. Included in our pricing, we offer complimentary dose adjustments within 2-3 weeks of your initial treatment and encourage you to schedule a follow-up visit within that 2-3 week period to perfect and prolong your results. Remember, dose = duration.
